Description:

The following item shows a photostat of a survey for the Sturdevant Engineering Co. in Wilkes-Barre, created roughly during the dates of the company’s production, which were 1784-1870s. It pictures parts of Exeter and Port Griffith in Pennsylvania, and a few sections are blocked off to show property lines - each of these blocks containing at least the name, and some the acreage, dates related to them (possibly purchase?). The names of those persons with lands marked are William Moore (Sr.?), Harmon A. Chambers; William Far?, Zepheniah Knapp; Andrew Henderson, Erastus Smith, and Isaac Van Buren. A larger note towards the bottom of the map discusses this copies’ origin, as it was the copy of a Samuel P. of an original survey. The date for the item has been estimated by the other dates of properties included by the company papers, such as Isaac Vanburren’s lands, warranted to him in July of 1822.
