Description:

This is a photostat copy (produced by Isaac B. Brown, Deputy Secretary of Internal Affairs) of a land survey from Charles Stuart for John Lukens, 1720-1789, for a plot of land. The land in question is marked by a short description of its general perimeters, the contents of which are 298 ¼ acres in Plains township, then the allowances for the roads and such before closing the document. Closer to the bottom is the seal of the copy’s creator attesting that it is a copy of an original document and was made on March 5, 1896.

A Draught (sic) [Draft] of a Tract of land called Situate on the waters of Lakawanack about three or four miles from the mouth of said Creek in the County of Northumberland containing two hundred and ninety eight acres and a quarter of an acre besides the usual allowance of six per cent for roads &c [etcetera] Surveyed the 21st day of November 1774 for William Foster in pursuance of a warrant dated the 9th day of June 1773 by Charles Stuart Dep[ut]y S[urveyor] To John Lukens Esq[uire] Surveyor Gen[eral]

In Testimony, That the above is a copy of the original remaining on file in the Department of Internal Affairs of Pennsylvania, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the said Department to be affixed, at Harrisburg, the fifth day of March 1896 Isaac B. Brown Deputy Secretary of Internal Affairs.
