Description:
The following item dated June 12, depicts a land deed from John Evans to David Correy. In the deed, Evans is selling 170 acres to David Correy for the sum of $18.00. The land is in Providence, PA, part of Luzerne county, and is mentioned as belonging to an original 200 acres surveyed to James Chapman, by Jacob Cist who held the deed poll July 20th of 1816. The deed attests to the change in ownership, protecting Correy’s claim to the lands against Evans, his heirs and assigns, or any other person. It is witnessed by George W. Gibbons and Peter Christian, the alderman in the county records office. Gibbons witnesses a testimony at the bottom of the page by Evans, who states that the same day of the sale, Correy paid the sum in full.
