Description:

The following item depicts a photostat of land patent contracts by Thomas Mifflin, Governor, and James Trimble, Deputy Surveyor to Jeremiah Warden Parker and Company. These two patents are to finalize deed sales Warden Parker and company have conducted with John Carey, his original warrant dated July 2, 1793. This tract of land is labelled as “Massa,” contains 468 acres in Luzerne county and was sold to Warden Parker & company on July 18, 1793. Mifflin and Trimble are attesting to the patent sold, certifying their tenantship on September 4, 1794, and enrolling it in the land office on September 26, 1794. In the beginning of the contract, Mifflin states that Carey paid 3 pounds and 16 shillings for the original patent, which Warden Parker & company have paid unto Carey. The first contract is covered by the note from the Office of Internal Affaris, which states that this is a certified copy of the original, but much of the language appears similar, excepting that this deal is between Warden Parker and Company and Aaron Hunt. That original warrant was 8 shillings paid by Hunt originally and by Warden Parker & company to Hunt during the sale of the same warrant on July 18, 1793, originally dated to Hunt on July 2, 1793. The acreage is covered by the patent, but it too is located in Luzerne county. It is attested to on September 5, 1794 and enrolled in the land office on the same day as the Carey patent.
