Description:

The following item depicts a typescript copy of a land deed from Sarah Blanchard to the School District of Jenkins Township. The item is dated September 1, 1854, and signed by the directors of the school district, Merit Winters, Ira Ash, Crandle Thompson, Michael Philbin, Francis Yates, and Patrick Lennohan. In the deed, Blanchard is selling rights and ownship to the school building, called the Blanchard School House, or Lot. 3, for the sum of $78 dollars. The land and building were inherited by Blanchard after the passing of John Blanchard. The resolution of the sale was agreed upon August 23, 1854, and witnessed by Samuel Hogdon and E. S. Blanchard.
