Description:

This is a typewritten copy of a land deed from Jesse Gardner, 1761-1815, and his wife, Martha Gardner 1760-1849, to Jeremiah Blanchard, 1764-1837, for £60 for access to facilities on the land on March 15, 1797. The land in question, in lot 6 of Pittston, is marked by a small survey-like description of its perimeters and relations to other lots in the area (lots 16, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 19, 5), including some sectors owned by Jesse Gardner and Isaac Gould. The facilities Blanchard bought are 1/2 of a sawmill and sawmill seat, pond and pondage ground, logway and board yard, and the passage into said area. It confirms the sale and transfers all rights from Gardner to Blanchard and his descendants. There is also a second section on the second page which appears to be a confirmation of the previous document by John P. Schott, a justice of the peace, in the presence of William Hutchins on March 17 1797. There is an annotation on the first page in pencil: 3-15-1797.
