Description:

The following item dated June 7, 1777, depicts a property transfer bond by Jenks and Jonathan Corey to Samuel Cooke, doctor of the county. The deed is a bond of $150.00 with interest and to be paid in New York currency. There is a condition on the bond that if Jenks and party will pay the named sum of $75.00 with interest by June 7, 1778, the bond written here would be found void. The bond is witnessed by Jabez Setts and Robert Durkee. On the reverse of the bond, on the left hand side of the document, dated September 12, 1793, John Bailey and Temperance Cook, the executors of Samuel Cook’s estate, are writing a sale of transfer for the bond of sum at 70 pounds to Putnam Catlin. The bond transfer grants Catlin the powers and rights once held by Cook. On the right hand side of the reverse, dated November 27, 1793, Catlin is transferring the bond to Christopher Hurlbut for a sum of 100 pounds. The back of the item mentions Roswell Welles as the attorney of Bailey and Cook. It is witnessed by Jabez Fish and Samuel Curtis.
