Description:

This is a typewritten copy of a legal document from Samuel Van Loon, 1811-1885, to Andrew McClintock, 1810-1892, describing a debt being paid and an exchange of land in Plains Township on January 30 1860. It is written by Van Loon, who was Sheriff at the time, and begins with the introduction of a debt and his instructions on how to handle it. He discusses seizing the land and gives a small survey-like description of the land, its perimeters, and contents in the manner of structures. He describes the value of the land in apportionment to the debt and then recounts its sale in the Court of Common Pleas to Andrew I. McClintock, transferring it in title to him and ending the document. The pages are numbered, but the last two pages are both labeled as 3. There are several strikeouts with the typewriter overlaid on mistakes as well as some minor typographical errors.
