Description:
A typescript document that summarizes a number of land transfers associated with a Blanchard family at some point after 1850. It seems to mainly follow the lands owned by Jerry Blanchard I to his children and how the sales went on. Following the death of Jerry Blanchard I, much of his lands were given to Jerry II, believed to be Jeremiah Blanchard 1764-1837, and he made some sort of trade with an H. J. Williams. Jerry II then only mentions willing some of his land to his eldest son, John Blanchard, 1801-1853, but it seems other children (Clarissa, 1827-1903; Louisa, 1826-1894; and Elizabeth, 1821-1869) received land too, but most of them sold their tracts of land back to John later. He later sold 19 acres of land to Bloomsburg Coal and Iron and 66 acres of coal to Bloomsburg while reserving the surface, both in 1850. The document closes with John and his wife Sarah Blanchard, 1804-1892, turning over the land to their eldest son, David, 1824-1910. The document itself seems to be printed on the back side of a paper marked for the “Luzerne County Bowling Operators Association.”
