Description:

The following item offers a series of photocopied documents created by an unknown creator during roughly the 1880s. The items list the names of taxable inhabitants on their lands and the assumed worth. The list includes individuals and businesses, such as the Pittston & Elmira Coal Company, Carey Coal Company, and Northern Goal & Iron Company. The list considers improved versus unimproved lands, the number of houses on the premises,the number of acres, value per acre, and the total value, out-houses, horses and livestock, and other improvements made. There is a note on the second page mentioning surface rights, which were retentions held over minerals, such as coal, when parcels of land were sold to others from the larger estate.
