Description:

A series of documents from the Luzerne County Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes. These sheets contain assessment records on certain tracts of lands as needed for the means of tax amounts. 8 sheets have the same printed basis header and notes. They are marked with the mark of the Luzerne County Pennsylvania Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes, and the staff. They are listed as Guy W. Moore (President), Benjamin H. Rhys, 1889-1970 (Secretary), Siegmund K. Knies, 1894-1960 (Vice President), and Arthur T. Thomas (Chief Clerk). The other two sheets follow the rest of the same patterns barring this header. The body of the papers go over each of the assessment records for numerous properties (Pittston Elmira Coal Co., Samuel Sayler [1799-1859], Theodore Strong [1820-1907]; Northern Coal and Iron Co.) While some of these sheets simply have an individual property, others have lists that mark the acreage, the state of the land (improved, unimproved, houses, outhouses, farm animals, etc.), and the monetary amounts the correlate to each. Each has its own grand total to mark the tax amounts for the owner of the estate.
