Subseries III: Northeastern Regional Ballet Association, 1986
This subseries contains materials from The Northeastern Regional Ballet Association from 1986. This association was founded by Alexi Ramov, director of the Scranton Ballet Guild, in 1956. In 1987, the National Association for Regional Ballet, in which The Northeastern Regional Ballet Association fell under, closed due to a lack of funding. Regional Dance America (RDA) was founded in 1988 to promote the artistic development of dance companies throughout the United States, continuing the work that was started by the National Association for Regional Ballet. The NARB contributed to the decentralization of dance and, under its auspices, regional companies grew in stature and quality nationwide. Their mission is “To empower pre-professional dance in communities across America through education, scholarship, connection, and performance opportunities.” This subseries contains paperwork from the association and the festivals it put on. This subseries is ordered by date, from earliest to most recent.
