The works are divided into two series - Farley Library and the Wilkes University Archives. Works in the Farley Library series were donated to the library over the years for a variety of reasons, including artistic merit, while works donated to the Wilkes University Archives have some connection to Wilkes history.

Method of Acquisition

In 2016, librarians surveyed the stand alone works of art housed in Farley Library and the Wilkes University Archives that were not part of other collections. At this time, any works of art in the library that were in good physical condition were added to this collection.
