Scope and Contents
From the Collection:
The Arnaud C. and Anne Cartwright Marts Collection, 1888-2008, bulk 1940s-1970s consists of personal and professional correspondence, publications, photographs, photo albums, newspaper clippings, college files and records, physical realia of gowns, membership cards, and other objects regarding Anne Cartwright Marts and Arnaud C. Marts’ professional and personal lives and ancestry. This collection has materials that span from 1899 to 2008, however the bulk of the published and unpublished materials reflect various points of Anne and Arnaud’s professional and personal lives including photo albums from Anne’s service as a nurse in the Red Cross during World War II, Arnaud’s administrative positions held at various colleges and universities such as Bucknell University, Oberlin College, Bucknell University Junior College and Wilkes College, and family genealogical notes and photographs of the Marts, Cartwrights, and Hotchkiss families.

Series III: Objects, 1942-1988
Series III: Objects, 1942-1988, is arranged into two subseries: Subseries I: Personal Items, 1917-1970 and Subseries II: Anne McCartney (Marts) Red Cross Service Materials 1942-1946. Subseries I is arranged alphabetically by type of object and Subseries II is arranged alphabetically by type of object(s). This series contains many of Arnaud Marts’ wallets, address books, membership cards,a doctoral gown, plaques, and dedications in his remembrance. This series also contains armbands, cufflinks, photo albums, dogtags, study materials, awards and a nurse aid cap which belonged to Anne during and following her time in the Red Cross during World War II. Items in this series were collected from various vacations, educational institutes, and locations at different points in Arnaud and Anne Marts lifetimes.
