Scope and Content:

From the Collection: The Sordoni Art Gallery Exhibition files consist mainly of marketing materials, bound catalogues for exhibitions and artists, invitations, event posters, calendars/schedules, and accompanying documents for exhibitions. These marketing materials include newsletters and news articles, postcards, flyers, and magazines. The accompanying exhibition documents include internal and external correspondence and memoranda with institutions and artists; financial documents including shipping, loaning, and fundraising documents. Other materials in the files include photographs, films, photo slides, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, floppy disks, and CDs. The collection is dated from 1973 to present day, as more materials for new exhibitions are added to the collection.

Access:

The exhibition files are closed for internal Wilkes departments. Digitization possible for outside researchers on a case-by-case basis. The exhibition programs have been digitized by Zachary Mendoza in Spring 2020 and Sophia Krupsha in Spring 2021 and have been made available online here: https://omeka.wilkes.edu/omeka/collections/show/24

Series VIII: Appraisals collection, is arranged in original order that the materials were located in the binders and contains photographs and financial appraisals for the collection of Sordoni Art Gallery materials that was sold in an auction in 2017 to raise money for the new Sordoni Art Gallery.
