Description:

This letter, dated August 1, 1780, is written by Zebulon Butler, a , to William Stewart. In the letter, Butler is mentioning having received a letter from Stewart dated three weeks prior to this response, in which Stewart mentioned rations and provisions of flour were being secured and sent to the Wyoming post by a Mr. Buck. Butler mentions that the man has not yet shown up, but that the soldiers were able to secure the rations of flour for themselves from Philadelphia. He continues to write that he is surprised to not have heard from Stewart since his last letter, as he wrote of their need to him and requested a response quickly. He explains that their state of the stores and provisions can be best understood by a letter recently written by Mr. Forseman. This item is a reply to a letter that Stewart wrote Butler previously, found in 10.17. Item 17: Letter from William Stewart to Zebulon Butler, 1780 July 8.
