Okay. The paper is browning, the edges are tattered, there are several folds and stains present, and there is one obtrusive tear which prevents the legibility of one word.

Description:
This letter written by William Stewart informs Zebulon Butler about his attempts at acquiring Cattle for Fort Wyoming.

Janiata [sic] August 28th 1780
Sir
I rec’d yours Benecing Deat 25th Ju’ I had the Loading Read to put in the Boats By the time the men got here & three men to go up in the Boats I shall Do Every thing in my Power to have row boats Load Ready By the time the Boats Can got Back, I think it Will Be Best to send them soon as possabel- [sic] for one boat will have to go up Janiata & one down to Hirris Farrey [sic] for some of the Loading and it will Detain them for 3 Days here, I think that your Righting on mine to a Punchen Commesery [sic] of Cattel [sic] is sofichent [sic], Col En’k Blain is the Person who superstendes, I have wrot [sic] to him that we want Beef at Wyoming and for to send money on to order Cattel [sic] to Be sent as soon as Bossabel [sic] - - I think it will Be Best for you to send- a Congress to Call Blain Cg Bs on Where you Shall think Best, for the Commisery [sic] here Cannot by Cattel [sic] with the state money we were in hope that it wold [sic] pay for Cattel [sic] But find it will not yet- The want of money Buts it out of our faver to get Cattel [sic], Coll Blain was at Camp about tow [sic] weeks ago, Call Cox went to Philadelphia for money for him self and to Bring sum [sic] for me, But got none for Either of us, if I Could gat [sic] money I wold [sic] soon gat [sic] Cattel [sic] fouly our post, I want to go up much But I think if I leve [sic] this plese [sic] we wold [sic] not gat [sic] tham [sic] to supley [sic] that post, I am in hope after the niset [sic] Loads go up I will have time for to go up, for I want to see you and the Rest of my nibours [sic] there, I have no order to Etching hid’s for shoes.
