Description:
This letter, dated August 27, 1787, is written by Samuel Sackett, a Revolutionary War veteran to Zebulon Butler, a lieutenant colonel during the American Revolutionary War. In the letter, Sackett asks Butler to confirm he has received the money Sackett asked him to retrieve to him, that owed by John Jenkins and Ryan. He continues to ask if Butler can send it on to him, and if not, if he could have it transferred to his son, Lord Butler, who may deliver the dues to Sackett.

If you have Recd [received] the money due
to me from Mr Jenkins & Ryan on
their Notes which I put into your
hand to obtain of them, would thank
you to inform me by the first opportunity—-
If not be pleased to put
them into the hand of your Son, & desire
him to take Such measures as may
Recover the Same immediately—
