Description:

This item dated March 18, 1789, depicts a check being written by Thomas Mifflin, to Zebulon Butler, by way of the Luzerne County treasurer, David Rittenhouse. The check is for 23 pounds, and 5 shillings. On the reverse, there is a note by Zebulon Butler, asking Rittenhouse to pay the within order to Matthias Hollenback, dated March 23, 1789. There is a note beneath that by Butler, signed by Hollenback stating that he received the amount in whole.
