Title:
A Letter from the Associate Reformed Synod, to the Associate Presbytery of Pennsylvania; and Another from that Presbytery, In Answer to the former to which is prefixed, A state of some facts, relative to the controversy now subsisting concerning the Scots Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.
Description:
A publication featuring letters from Associate Reformed Synod church members to church members of the Associate Presbytery of Pennsylvania responding to one another regarding a religious controversy issue in Philadelphia. The first letter is from William Logan on behalf of the Associate Reformed Synod to the Associate Presbytery of Pennsylvania in June 1785. He writes that there will be a conference and that after it is held the two groups will be able to reconcile their differences. The second letter, dated October 4, 1785, is by William Marshall of the Associate Presbytery of Pennsylvania with his response. Marshall believes that the matters discussed at the conference will not help the differences between them. His reasoning is that the Synod holds contempt for the Presbyterians and that they cannot be united until that changes.
