Views of American Scenery

Description:

A publication with different views around the United States with sketches of scenes followed by a description. This booklet features scenery from the Northeast part of the United States. There is also a note included from 1954 correcting the name of the illustrator. The first landmark mentioned is the tomb of President Washington. The first president died in 1799, and his tomb is located in Mount Vernon, Virginia. Many scenic natural landmarks are noted in this publication. Wilkes-Barre’s Upper Falls of Solomon’s Creek are described as a quiet place to relax. The Lower Falls are also praised for their beauty. The author writes that the Wyoming Valley inspires poets, such as Thomas Campbell.
