Title:

Down the Susquehanna by Canoe.

Description:

A large publication documenting an expedition of several men who traveled from the start of the Susquehanna River to the ocean in 1950. Included is a letter addressed to Gilbert Stuart McClintock on. The letter was written by Ralph Gray and Walter M. Edwards thanking McClintock for his help researching local history for their National Geographic article. The article that McClintock helped research is “Down the Susquehanna by Canoe” by Gray and Edwards. Ralph Gray was the author of this article and Walter M. Edwards was the photographer. Their journey started at the Goodyear Dam near Oneonta, New York. and ended in Port Deposit, Maryland. They included pictures of Wilkes-Barre, Azilum, and Harrisburg that they passed through. They described the landscape, history, and the local people.
