Born around 1773 or 1777 (according to many sources), Cornelius Tiebout was an American copperplate engraver that began his work at just eleven years old. He apprenticed with New York silversmith John Burger, who lived from 1747-1828. Around 1789, Tiebout and Berger’s son published a songbook called Amphion. Tiebout died around 1832.
