Description:

The manuscript depicts a note by Gilbert Stuart McClintock stating where Isaac Barre is in a referred painting of General James Wolfe’s death. The referred print is item 162, Colored Print titled, “General Wolfe killed at the Siege of Quebec September 14; 1759,” by W & J Stratford, 1792 November 17. The note includes a sketch, copying where Barre is in relation to General Wolfe on the painting. Barre is the figure kneeling down behind Wolfe’s fallen figure. The note also mentions that McClintock bought item 162 in Paris August 1956.
