The Spectator.

Description:

The Monday, March 10, 1712 edition of The Spectator newspaper. The Spectator was created by Joseph Addison and Richard Steele in 1711 as a way to reach a wide ranging audience with philosophical ideas of the Enlightenment. The newspaper includes a letter to the editor from a woman detailing issues of her marriage. The back contains advertisements for a comedy show, wine, engravings, a small-pox cure, and drops for “hypocondriack melancholly” [sic].
