Description:
A copy of the newspaper, “The Bayonet”, the official journal of the Ninth Regiment Armory Fair (a regiment of the National Guard present in the Wilkes-Barre community at the time). The newspaper has multiple articles of historical interest, including: A brief story of a French soldier in the War of 1870 (also known as the Franco-Prussian War), an article about Luzerne Country’s military history, an advertisement for malt whiskey that is “recommended by physicians”, an article regarding an upcoming dog show, a national guard street pageant for “Military Day” (probably an alternative name for Armed Forces Day), and a plethora of local advertisements.
