Description:

The newspaper is printed in Italian, and the front page story is about the election of Guiseppe Sarto as Pope Pius X. The article goes into different detailed aspects of the election of the new Pope, the announcement of his election from Cardinal Luigi Macchi, his blessing to the people, the news being given to King Umberto I, Queen Margherita, and Giuseppe Zanardelli, the Prime Minister of Italy. The events took place in Rome in the evening of August 4, 1903. It is likely that this newspaper was saved to remember the inauguration of Pope Pius X from accounts of that day.
