The Ithaca Journal, “Azilum, a Colony Founded by French Refugees”
Description:
A clipping from a newspaper with an article on Azilum, a colony in Bradford County, PA founded by French Refugees for Queen Marie Antoinette in 1793. The house was called “Le Grande Maison” and became the largest log housing in early America. The house was, of course, never occupied by Marie Antoinette, but was occupied by numerous different people throughout its existence.
