Buildings Added to Wilkes Campus Honor 2 Pioneers in Coal Industry

Description:

History of Parrish Hall and Chapman Hall at Wilkes University. The article provides brief biographies and family history of Charles Parrish and Isaac A. Chapman. Parrish was known for creating the Lehigh and Wilkes-Barre Coal Company and was also the director of the Sunbury Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad as well as being involved in many other businesses. Chapman was a surveyor of Luzerne Country and was also involved in the coal industry. He is likely most notably known for his time as a publisher for The Gleaner newspaper.
