Description:
A series of printed notes and handwritten notes regarding the McClintock Collection from various dates around 1988-1992. The first item is a printed note titled “Double Fore-Edge Painting” and is regarding an engraving by Thomas Campbell from 1820. The next item is an advertisement from Pirie MacDonald, a photographer, regarding the frames he is selling. The next item is a copy of a list of items, including the Thomas Campbell engraving. The other items are an autographed letter from Alfred Noyes, a book of the writings of Thomas Paine from 1792, and a map by Lewis Evans. The rest of the items are 10 notecards with handwritten notes by librarians.

Great map of mid 18th cent.[ury] America Geographical, Historical, Philosophical & Mechanical Essays The first Containing an Analysis of a General map of the middle British Colonies in America; and of the Country of the Confederate Indians; a description of the Face of the Country; etc. etc. We [?] displayed a reproduction of the original map, pub. by Ethyl Corp.[oration] in 1955 Lewis Evans was the first to note the existence of oil rear the very site where the oil Industry was founded a century later. (Oil City, Penn[sylvani]a) The map today is one of the rarest issues of Benjamin Franklin’s Press.
