Description:

The following item depicts a letter and itemized description by Charles Gely, an antiques salesman and art collector in Paris, to Gilbert Stuart McClintock, dated February 28, 1927. The letter Gely writes to McClintock regarding a previous letter he received from him. He has sent over images of items that may interest McClintock for his collection. Gely asks that the items that are not of interest be sent back to him and notes that the dimensions for each object are included on the back of their respective images. Following this brief message, Gely includes a brief history and cost of each item, pieces ranging from the 15th and 16th century, and includes altarpieces, statues in alabaster and multiple entombments in polychrome and wood. Some of the items have been restored, while others suffered minor and larger damages, which Gely notes in his description.
