Description:
The following item depicts a letter dated December 10, 1828, written by John Todd to his nephew, Andrew Todd McClintock. In the letter, Todd writes that McClintock’s mother, Hannah Todd McClintock, wished for him to write to Andrew to ensure that he was well after his travels. She also wants to know if he will be quitting his place in Northumberland shortly, and Todd writes that she requests to hear from him more often. Todd also notes that McClintock’s mother has a pair of knitted stockings for him and asks that he send someone up to fetch them for him during the season. Todd finishes the letter by sharing that they are all in good health, even their elderly parents, for which they are thankful.
The back of the manuscript notes that John Todd holds the position of Postmaster.
The back of the manuscript also notes that Andrew Todd McClintock is receiving letters from Mr. Shannon’s Store, near Trappe, Pennsylvania.
