Description:
The following item depicts a black and white photograph of the Santa Maria della Salute basilica church in Venice, Italy. The photograph is taken by Gilbert Stuart McClintock. The focal point of the picture is set on the water, inferring that it was taken along the canal itself. There are a couple of buildings lining the right and left side of the print, with the basilica set in the background of the photograph. It is the central focus drawing the viewer's eye by way of the water.
The print has Gilbert Stuart McClintock’s signature on the back, with a copyright sigil and the notation of this being the 12th certificate. An accompanying sticker on the front of the piece, stating 129, indicates that McClintock was likely selling his print at an auction or sale.
The date of the manuscript has been estimated by McClintock’s life dates.
The Santa Maria della Salute is a Roman Catholic basilica and church, begun in 1631 and finished in 1687. It is located in Venice, Italy, and was consecrated in 1681.
