Description:
The following item depicts a photograph capturing the left hand side view of the yard outside the McClintock family home. The house is a two story white clapboard home with stucco accents and three chimneys displayed along the two buildings. The house sits central to the frame, with the yard comprising the foreground as it leads to the structure in the background. There is a large tree in the center of the photograph, abutting the house, with the open air porch on the left-hand side of the house. There are glass panes on the left hand side of the porch, closing that section of the porch off.
The photograph is a black and white tone.
The photograph has been attributed the “House of Wendy Hams, Bear Lake,” from its connection to other photographs of the same house, in similar styles, where the location and Wendy Hams appear on accompanying slips of paper, such as item (1.73b).
Gilbert Stuart McClintock is supposed to be the creator of the photograph as he has other photographs that he sold in auctions within the collection, item (1.60) “A Photograph of the “[Basilica] Santa Maria della Salute,” taken by Gilbert Stuart McClintock, [ca. Mid-twentieth century]. (removed to Oversized Box #1)”, as well as another photo album of their house, item (1.59), which collects frames of the house in a similar documentary style.
