Description:
The following shows an itemized history of this property’s transfer and sale between 1841-1922. The original sale was depicted as between John Lord Butler and John Dorrance in 1841, the second between Dorrance as executor for Charles Dorrance, and Stephen Leonard Thurlow in 1862, the third between Thurlow and Andrew Todd McClintock, as property trustee, to Jasper Billings Stark, in 1864, the fourth between Stark and Jesse Thomas in 1875, whose sale is the last documented. There is a note at the bottom of the page that suggests the method of payment may be mistaken in a few occurrences, such as Thomas paying for the property in half cash, $24,000 in addition to the remainder with the sale of Union house, totaling $44,000. The creator suggests that the house would not have been worth or available to the sum of $20,000 at that time. The reverse of the manuscript gives more context to the policies in their transfer, noting when one was cancelled, another refunded, and the names included on the insurance policies.
