Description:
Official documentation recording the donation of several Italian medals and plaquettes from Gilbert S. McClintock to Princeton University. The document includes 8 pages and an envelope that the pages were sent in. The first three pages lists Italian medals from the Renaissance, the designer of the medal, where it is from, who it is depicting, and other information about the medal. The next three pages are a list of the same items of the first three pages, but include a number on the right side next to each item, likely the price of the medal or plaquette. The sixth page includes more items, plaquettes, bronze impressions, and a section that lists other items including paintings. There is a typed portion at the end of this page giving the total appraised value of the thirty pieces within the collection at $1,900 and is signed by Mark M. Salton, the collector. The page has red pen or pencil circling items 18 and 19 and writing on the section of items 21-30. The writing by these items are the numbers 2, 2, and 4, and then lines drawn below “seal impressions” and along the side of the item list. There is another page with an item 31 including a medal and then a second page with items 31-32 which are stone medals. The page with item 31 has some pencil written over the description. The envelope includes the address for Miners National Bank of Wilkes-Barre at 818 West Market Street Wilkes-Barre, PA. There is information written where the recipient is typically written, it says, “List of medals given to [?] Museum Princeton Sept.[ember] 1957 [?]”
